Situated on the sea front in Torquay, the hotel enjoys panoramic sea views, all bedrooms are delightfully decorated and have pristine bathrooms, and we consider all the public areas, restaurant etc to be of 4 star pleasing and relaxing quality, despite the hotels 3 star rating. The ballroom is used regularly by local dance groups and will comfortably accommodate 30 couples over a weekend with plenty of space to dance.
On entering the hotel, you immediately feel ‘comfortable’ in the entrance hallway with the reception in front of you, the restaurant to your right and the bar and lounges to your left. The hotel has a natural ‘flow’ about it which takes you on to the lift and further ancillary lounges (garden facing) until you reach the fine ballroom.
You will immediately feel ‘at home’ in all the ground floor facilities, with comfortable ‘sink back and relax’ old world lounge seating and quality antique furnishings…. all the lounges and bar have either fine sea views or beautiful lawned gardens to look out on……. Afternoon tea is a grand affair served piping hot with home made biscuits with quality silver plate tea set, sugar bowl, milk jug etc, You will feel relaxed from the moment you sit down.
The ballroom is a joy acoustically. is well laid out and the floor will accommodate 100 dancers over three nights. The lovely ballroom is often used by local dance groups two or three evenings a week.
There are many standards of bedroom with lots of opportunities to upgrade with some fabulous sea views. Once again an immediate feeling of old world comfort would be our review although it was noted by some guests some bedrooms could use a little TLC.
However, it is the restaurant with full silver service and a beautiful array of desserts already laid out that will bring you back to this hotel time and time again. The food choices are extensive, sorbet is also served before the 4 star main and the restaurant team are noticeably polite, respectful and courteous, and service and table clearing is always timely. Its a fine restaurant and a wonderful dining experience..
There really is so much to explore within easy reach from this hotel and you can fill your days familiarizing yourself with all the English Riviera has to offer during the day, and dancing the nights away after a formal silver service evening meal.

This was our first time at the Livermead House Hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I can see it becoming one of our favourites. We walked alongside the sea front into town in the morning and then enjoyed lunch back at hotel in their beautiful gardens. The silver service dining in the evening was a bit of a treat, with a good menu choices and high quality food. And to top it all off, we had two fabulous nights dancing on a good size dance floor.
