This a fine modern 4 star hotel, typical of the Mercure quality brand, but built leaving the original fascia of the original old Kings Hotel facing directly into the central square of the town centre. The main entrance to the contemporary reception/foyer and ground floor bar is on the side of the hotel and we recommend two options for parking. Book early and reserve 1 of the 21 car parking spaces (currently £5 per night) directly below the hotel and bring your luggage around to the front entrance. Alternatively, park in the multi-story ( currently £5 on exit only) directly next to the hotel and bring your luggage to the front entrance. There are lifts to all levels of the hotel from the reception.
Once above reception the restaurant, cocktail bar and the ballroom are on level 2 with some bedrooms and the remaining rooms are above.
Carole and I are entirely satisfied that this hotel being 4 stars, you will be entirely happy with the ‘standard’ rooms, but upgrades are available, and you should contact email@example.com for a quote……? Please remember, the hotel is in the middle of the town, so scenic views are not a factor from any part of this hotel. I think it would not be impolite to describe the public thoroughfares as somewhat of a rabbit warren of passageways, but all are wide, spacious and finely decorated with tiled quality contemporary flooring
The restaurant is on the side of the hotel overlooking the town square from the original fascia and is of a comfortable ambience and design for evening meals which be coordinated to our table plan. You can expect the food choices to be similar to our usual 3 star hotel choices and served to the table, but breakfast will be buffet and seating will be according to availability depending on what time you your enjoy breakfast and how busy the hotel is at the time of your visit.
The cocktail bar is suited next to the restaurant on the same side of the hallway and both are directly opposite to the ballroom.
The ballroom is going to be the gem of this hotel for our dancers and although the seating won’t be conventional because of the shape, the floor is lovely and will accommodate 100 plus dancers. If the holiday is busy we will use the bar in the ballroom and if not, the cocktail bar will be appropriate….
