Continental Holiday

Example Itinerary: Continental Holiday

[two_thirds]

The itinerary for a continental holiday is in letter format, and quite ‘comprehensive’ and specific to the holiday. The following related to a Calpe Spain holiday and has been simplified but should give a general idea of how these are run but obviously actual holidays will have different specifics.

Dear Dancers

Holiday Itinerary/Information – Please Keep Safely

Carole and I hope you are as excited as we are at the thought of your holiday in Spain.

On arrival at Alicante, you will be greeted by myself (for our new guests, I’m a big chap, and quite difficult to miss!!) and Carole (looking as lovely as ever!), but we will be holding aloft an “Dance Breaks” clipboard. We have groups, arriving from Gatwick, Stansted, Bristol, and Manchester, so your group will be met and transferred direct to the hotel by coach/mini bus. In the event of any undue arrival delay, guests will be transferred without having to wait for a delayed flight. In view of your early morning start, you may wish to have a packed lunch with you, or something to nibble, during your flights on both the outward and return journeys.

We would ask all our guests to refer to their flight information packs re luggage and hand luggage allowances/charges. Please also ensure that you have provided all required
passenger information to the airline, in relation to your flight booking.

Please ensure your outward luggage is fully labelled, to include your departure airport, flight numbers, destination airport and hotel, and your own name/address details. Please also remember your luggage will need to be similarly labelled for your return journey.

On this holiday, we arrive around lunchtime, and following check-in to your rooms, your first meal will be dinner at 7.30pm, (ish), but bar snacks are available should you want something to keep you going until your evening meal. Alternatively, two supermarkets are literally across the road

Given that we have couples joining us for the long weekend only, Friday to Monday, we need necessarily to dance on these four nights. We normally take our break night over the weekend as there tends to be other entertainment in the hotel. We therefore propose that we do not dance on arrival night, and subsequently take a further break on the Thursday night, leaving us four days dancing over the weekend and then take a general decision as to whether we would like a break on the Tuesday night before our final night of dancing on the Wednesday. Dancers, we always hear a sharp intake of breath at such suggestions, but we have now been hosting holidays for twelve years, and there is absolutely no doubt that trying to dance for six nights consecutively usually results in a poorly supported floor, as the six days go on. Our suggestion would be that we include the second Tuesday night as a free night, but if you are all in favour and not too tired, we could dance on arrival night. This would give you three nights’ dancing, one night off, four nights’ dancing, one night off, and then dancing on the last night. We can take this decision at Dinner on the first night, and if no dancing, you may wish to join Carole and I for a relaxing evening by the Pool Bar, or take a delightful evening stroll along the nearby promenade.

“Brief Get Together” at 10.00am on Tuesday morning, in the Piano Bar.

Dinner in the Restaurant at 7.30pm, (ish) Tuesday evening, followed by dancing 9.15pm – 11.00pm.

Due to luggage restrictions, we do not have a ‘Formal’ night on our continental holidays, and the evening dress code for all dance evenings is Smart Casual.

The Hotel Diamante Beach is a delightful hotel, with both indoor (in the Spa) and outdoor pools. Pool towels (for the outdoor pool) are available free of charge from the hotel reception, but a returnable deposit will be required. Carole and I are sure you will also be delighted to know that your holiday includes 3 x 90mins Spa sessions, per guest, during your stay. On arrival/registration at the hotel, these sessions will be indicated on the Hotel Card issued to you, and you will need to present this card when you attend the Spa. Carole and I would recommend that you pre-book your chosen Spa times, (at the Spa Reception) as certain times (usually weekends) can be busy, and numbers are monitored to ensure your enjoyment of the facility. Spa towels are provided (without charge) for each visit.

As with most continental hotels, there will be no tea/coffee making facilities in your room, and you may wish to take a travel kettle, cups, etc. to enjoy your morning cuppa!

The hotel does have Intranet, and for a deposit of 5,00€, refundable at the end of the holiday, they will give you a cable to hook into the Intranet in your room, so, for those of you who want to take your computer with you, this is an ideal facility.

We know that our previous guests had a fabulous time in Calpe, and Carole and I are entirely confident that you will enjoy this delightful resort and the hotel, and, of course, your evening dancing to the Dance Breaks Music Collection.
